More than 800 participants and supporters descended upon the largest event in Best Buddies Texas history.
At the 2nd Annual Friendship Walk and Festival, more than 800 hundred Best Buddies supporters, high school and college participants gathered on April 10 at the University of St. Thomas to celebrate the Best Buddies mission of friendship benefiting people with intellectual disabilities.
Over $40,000 was raised to support the high school and college programs in the area.
A special thanks to everyone who participated in our Friendship Walk and collected donations from their family and friends.
Our two highest fundraisers were participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities from Mayde Creek High School and Westside High School, who raised over $7,500 collectively!
In addition to the Friendship Walk around the campus at the start of the festival, attendees were able to enjoy fun activity booths organized by Best Buddies chapters.
The Festival of Friendship also provided a stage for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to showcase their experiences with Best Buddies and their talents.
Everyone enjoyed dancing to the music provided by DJ Jason and free food and drinks that included grilled hotdogs, chips generously provided by Frito-Lay, Potbelly cookies, popcorn, snowcones, cotton candy and soft drinks provided by the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group.
A special thanks to all of our generous sponsors who help underwrite the cost of the whole event so that 100% of the proceeds can go back to our high school and college programs in Texas.
