Deck the Halls
Dallas, Texas

The Old Red Museum of Dallas County History & Culture will open the first annual Deck the Halls at Old Red exhibit on Saturday, November 15 in the first floor Special Exhibits Gallery. Best Buddies is one of the 18 Dallas County not-for-profit organizations that will decorate a lit holiday tree or display.

Visitors may "vote" for their favorite holiday display by dropping their donations in a box by each tree. At the close of the exhibit, January 11, the "winner" of this friendly competition, the tree with the most donations, will be announced.

The Old Red Museum of Dallas County History & Culture is located in the West End of downtown Dallas at 100 South Houston Street in the beautifully restored Old Red Courthouse built in 1892.

Best Buddies participants and supporters will received half-off admission on December 7th.

Business Buddies is a networking opportunity for working professionals that is sponsored by and benefits Best Buddies Texas. For a $5 donation, attendees will enjoy $3 Crown and Down drink specials from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. There will also be a complimentary appetizer buffet from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.

The Buddies United in Leadership Development
Dallas & Houston, Texas

The Buddies United In Leadership Development (B.U.I.L.D.) program is an initiative that supports the Best Buddies mission by training individuals with intellectual disabilities from our programs to become skilled public speakers and leaders in their community. BUILD trainings will be conducted in Dallas and Houston in the fall to train Buddy Ambassador to speak on behalf of the Best Buddies mission.

Best Buddies staff in both Dallas and Houston are recruiting volunteers to join their BUILD Committee. The committee in Dallas and the committee in Houston will work to plan the BUILD training sessions for the Buddies, assist the Buddies as speech coaches, and help secure resources so that Buddies can attend the Best Buddies national Leadership Conference.

Open to all ages and abilities! The event features a 100, 62, or 15-mile bike ride, and 5K run, and 3K walk options. With participation of celebrities and professional athletes, a gourmet barbecue and concert by the Black Eyed Peas, this event has something for everyone!

The Best Buddies International Leadership Conference brought together top leaders from high school and colleges worldwide to discuss topics on social inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities, leadership, communication, fund raising, and a variety of other topics.

Festival of Friendship

The 1st Annual Festival of Friendship was a huge success featuring a Buddy Walk, fun activity booths, free food and drinks and live entertainment. Over 200 participants enjoyed an fun-filled day while helping to raise over $10,000 to support Best Buddies programs in Texas.

Best Buddies Midnight Madness is an off-the-wall scavenger hunt with teams consisting of 4-10 players representing numerous organizations on a quest that ends with a DJ’d party open to all students on campus.

Business Buddies is a networking opportunity for working professionals that is sponsored by and benefits Best Buddies Texas. Our January Business Buddies event was hosted by Metro Grill off I-75 and Knox from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. For a donation of $5, attendees enjoyed one free drink ticket and the opportunity to win special prizes. 10% of the food purchased was donated to Best Buddies.
