Best Buddies has been selected as an official charity for the Chevron Houston Marathon for the third year in a row. Last year’s team was able to provide vital friendship and leadership development programs for more than 50 youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities!
As our team grows we are committed to providing opportunities for team members to meet, more amenities and excellent customer service. There are several ways that you can join Team Best Buddies.
Lottery Entries:
To enter the lottery for the 2011 Chevron Houston Marathon or Aramco Houston Half Marathon, runners must register on the event website during a 17-day period starting at 6:00 a.m. CST on Tuesday, July 27 and extending to 11:59 p.m. CST on Thursday, August 12. The Houston Marathon Committee will announce participants for each race on Tuesday, August 17.
Once you have received an entry through the lottery, you can create a fundraising page and set your own fundraising goal by visiting the Team Best Buddies Page. Team members who secure entry through the lottery do not have a set fundraising goal!
Hero Entries (Available Now):
Best Buddies Texas has Full and Half Marathon entries remaining.
For a $350 donation plus the registration fee you can purchase your entry into the Marathon or Half Marathon on the marathon website. You can skip the lottery and secure your entry today or wait until after the lottery is announced on August 17th.
The $350 donation must be paid in full at the time of registration. The $350 donation goes to support Best Buddies programs! Hero entries are first come first serve and we are unable to hold Hero entries for alumni team members.

Fundraising for Registration entries are secured by completing a Fundraiser Commitment Form and submitting payment of the registration fee to Best Buddies.
The Fundraising Commitment form can be requested by emailing KentLoftin@bestbuddies.org or by calling (713) 525-8478.
Best Buddies will help team members set up a fundraising page where they can request donations from their social network. Team members will have until December 1, 2010 to reach their fundraising commitment.
Being an alumnus of Team Best Buddies has its perks, such as priority for our Fundraising for Registration entries and reduced fundraising commitment.
Fundraising for Registration Commitments:
• Marathon - $1,000 (Alumni rate $900) commitment plus $115 registration fee
• Half Marathon - $750 (Alumni rate $650) commitment plus $95 registration fee
