On Saturday, November 14, students from six high schools participated in the Rock for Friendship at Clear Lake Park in Seabrook, TX. This was the first time the Bay Area high school Best Buddies chapters have all come together.
The event concept originated from a group of enthusiastic Best Buddies parents who were inspired by the participation of their sons and daughters in the Best Buddies High School Program.
Six high schools and six rock bands were selected and thanks to parent volunteers and an amazing student effort, the Rock for Friendship came to life!
This family-friendly event which included deluxe raffle and silent auction items, garnered over $3,500 in ticket sales, merchandise and food purchases, as well as in-kind donations.
Over 300 people from Clear Creek ISD, Friendswood ISD and Deer Park ISD attended in support of their favorite Best Buddies chapter or band.
Clear Creek High School attracted the most participants and will be honored with $100 to plan a chapter activity for their Best Buddies chapter.
The benefit combined musical performances from extremely talented high school students with stage appearances by many of our finest Best Buddies members.
Each chapter was given the opportunity to showcase Buddies and Peer Buddies who effectively represent the Best Buddies mission of friendship.
The Rock for Friendship was a great success and Best Buddies Texas intends to build on the event in the future!
